  • Current Leadership
Realistically, leadership is a matter of development. Alpha Phi Omega develops leaders, and we are very proud of that. As we grow, we seek qualities of leadership, and throughout our lives, we pursue the development of those qualities and the development of other 'well-rounding' qualities. Through our leadership development program in Alpha Phi Omega, we are able to develop ourselves. And, as we aspire to greater things in life, we become aware of limiting factors - which we can't control, the external forces that shape our destiny until we control and develop what we have inside of us. We discover our own talents and strive to better our skills. We study, we learn, we practice.
President
The President's job is one of coordination and public relations. S/He runs the Brother meetings, the Executive Board meetings, and coordinates Advisory Board meetings. S/He appoints committees for certain undertakings (e.g.: Awards Banquet, Senior Reception). Nu Rho's head honcho also may appoint a Parliamentarian (who interprets the bylaws should any questions arise) and a Sergeant-at-Arms (who keeps order at meetings) as necessary to smooth the workings of Nu Rho. The big cheese also gets to handle probations and suspensions, unless s/he delegates that job to someone else. S/He is our representative to the Client Activities Office, to the College and the Williamsburg Community.
Executive VP
This position is not official, but according to the National Board, Chapters can create new Executive Board positions as deemed necessary. It just means that we get strange looks at Sectionals! The Executive Vice President takes care of Nu Rho's internal correspondence. This includes putting out a weekly newsletter, Brother roster, AIM screen name, and other written correspondence that needs to circulate through the Brotherhood or to the National Office. S/He is also in charge of maintaining the Web Site.
Service VP
The Service VP is all about helping others do service. Our service projects, which number around 20, range from fixing up houses and summer camps to working with at-risk kids in the community to running the campus escort service and visiting local nursing homes. One of the best parts about our service program is that if a Brother wants to take on a project that we have yet to start, s/he is more than welcome to go for it. If that person is excited about it, the Brotherhood will be too. The Service VP ensures that all of our projects have project heads to organize and run them. S/he also assists the project heads with any questions or details that might need to be addressed. S/He serves as the campus and community contact for our Brotherhood. Our service program provides us the opportunity to give back a small part of what all of us as individuals have taken.
